3 Easy Ways to Make Valentine’s Day Special for Your Kids
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Here are three easy ways to make Valentine’s Special for your kids.
DIY Heart Garland
Valentine’s Day is all about red and pink! I asked my son if he knew how to make the color pink. He had a blast exploring with red and white.
I provided him with red and white paint and let him explore this on his own by having him mix the two colors and paint on three white card stock papers. He did this for about 15 minutes. We were done for the day and let his art work dry.
The next day, I traced out a heart and cut out hearts from his paintings. We made a Valentine’s garland by taping the back of the hearts on twine. You can also use a ribbon. He was so proud to see his art work displayed! If your child is old enough, he or she could trace and cut out the hearts themselves.
Valentine’s Themed Food on Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is all about the hearts! If you live close to an IKEA, check out their grocery section. It’s downstairs near the checkout lanes. So, you can easily walk in and out of the store, without having to walk through the entire store. They have these delicious heart shaped cookies and they also have heart shaped waffles. My kids loved both! What a simple way to celebrate the season of love! You could also find Valentine’s Day themed snacks at your local grocery store to enjoy.
Valentine’s Day Wreath
Valentine’s Day is all about the LOVE! I found this wreath at Target for $3, but it can easily be made by cutting out the middle of a paper plate and by cutting out hearts from different colors of construction paper. Every time, I caught my son doing something I loved, I would write it down on a heart and he would get to tape in on the wreath. For example, I love how you are sharing with your brothers, I love your smile, I love it when you put away your dirty dishes in the sink. This is such a special way to see in writing all the things you love about your child. We will continue this until the wreath is completely filled up.
I hope you will be inspired to celebrate love with your family this Valentine’s season. Please comment below if you have any other easy and fun Valentine’s day ideas.
